The Dogs were Howling the Grass was Greener
No question 3 Dog Night has dozens of hits and if you have not seen them before, you will be saying, "I did not know they sang that!" I am afraid that singing the hits is a bit generous. Rod Stewart's voice has less rasp than Danny Hutton's. He is also the only true member of 3 Dog Night in the group.
I don't understand why Chuck Negron (who is currently on tour) does not put differences aside and join this group (I suppose Danny would need to be magnanimous as well). If you have never seen 3 Dog Night before then it is worth seeing the performance of the songs from Jr. High and High School again but if you have seen them, try someone else. I would tell you to consider Donny Osmond who has a residency in Las Vegas. Great show even if he doesn't hit the high notes like he did at 12 years old.
In other news, the opening act was The Grass Roots. Not as many hits as 3 Dog Night but they sounded great and were fun to sing along with. Mark Dawson the current lead singer was terrific and I am envious of his hair. I am not sure there are any original members of the band so it may be more of a tribute band than the real deal.
